The average unemployment rate in 2019 fell in 16 states, following the national average, which fell from 12.3% in 2018 to 11.9% last year, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released on Friday (14).

The highest rates were in Amapá (17.4%) and in Bahia (17.2%), while the lowest ones were recorded in Santa Catarina (6.1%) and in the states of Rondônia, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso, all 4 with 8% in the annual average.
